Supervising a bachelor or master thesis
Workflow before the supervision
- Send your topics to the teaching coordinator to be published online: https://irl.ethz.ch/de/education/courses/master_thesis.html
- Organize a short meeting to discuss expectations if students get in touch with you
- If students decide to write their thesis under your supervision write an e-mail to the teaching coordinator with the name, study program, thesis topic and email address of the student
- students will get invited to an introduction workshop and a scientific writing workshop in the first week of the semester
Workflow during the supervision
- All bachelor and master thesis students are required to give an interim and a final presentation
- If the interim or final presentations cannot be held at the designated dates, please get in touch with the teaching coordinator to arrange alternative dates and time slots
- Students hand in their thesis on the specified hand-in date
- The amount of hard copies they hand in has to be specified by the supervisor
- Master thesis students are obliged to hand in an A0 poster some weeks after they hand in their thesis (supervisors have to define the hand-in date of the poster)
Workflow after the supervision
- The report and the final presentation will be graded
- The grading scheme for the thesis and the final presentation can be found online: https://ethz.ch/content/dam/ethz/special-interest/baug/irl/irl-dam/lehrveranstaltungen/master-thesis/Beurteilung_Bericht.pdf
- Please enter the grade in e-Doz or contact the teaching coordinator if you need help
